I am a Clinical Psychologist, Somatic Therapist, Trainer and Mentor, with over 25 years of experience in working with adult clients in a wide range of settings and with a variety of issues. I am passionate about somatic work, which revitalised my own practice and has supported my clients (and myself!) in making deep, lasting changes and creating new, compassionate relationships with themselves and others.
My current practice and trainings are informed by my experience with a wide-range of modalities, including Cognitive Analytic Therapy, EMDR, iRest, Trauma Sensitive Yoga, ACT, Systemic Therapy, IFS, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Psychedelic Somatic Interactional Psychotherapy (PSIP) and other MindBody approaches. I draw on skills developed over 28 years, as well as my own personal healing experiences and professional practice to create these trainings and support other practitioners.
Courses and immersions offered are kept small for lots of opportunity for case discussions, practice and reflection for enhanced learning. They combine theoretical components, including an understanding of the scientific basis of somatic work and the impact of trauma, and a review of current somatic approaches as well as practical components where we develop our skills in applying of somatic approaches, for our client work (and with ourselves).
In trainings I share my client work experiences, examples of what works well, as well as what hasn’t (as reflection on examples of when things don’t go as intended can be a rich source of learning) and there will be space to discuss your client work too. I also share some of my own experience of somatic therapies, since this is where I have experienced the richest form of embodied learning.
In trainings and in supervision/ mentoring for those who have completed Level 1 of the training, I aim to de-shame our own experiences as therapists - first and foremost, we are humans, with our own experiences, pains, struggles, nervous systems and what IFS would call ‘parts’! Together we will co-create a safe, supportive space where making mistakes is welcomed and honest reflection on our human experience is supported and encouraged.
